In addition to writing, I also have editorial and ghostwriting experience. I’m a ghostwriter and editor for top New York writing firms such as Gotham Ghostwriters & Kevin Anderson and Associates. I specialize in children’s books (from picture books to YA across all genres), poetry, adult contemporary, memoir, serious nonfiction, diverse literature, and anything considered “poignant.” My editorial experience includes working at Beacon Press, which is one of the oldest publishers in America. I’ve also worked as a copy editor and prose editor at local Boston publishing houses and literary magazines.

Query Critique
I’ve written dozens of query letters before signing with my literary agent. Over the course of ten years, I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t. When you book me for a query critique, I will discuss format, structure, language, and offer tips on how to strengthen your letter. I will also brainstorm ideas and help you find more literary agents within your specific genre and category that you may have not known existed!

Submission Package
I get it! I’ve been where you are in the publishing journey… Submitting your materials can be a tough and painful process. That’s why I’m here to ease that process and make it as painless as possible! When you book me for a submission package, I will make sure your query letter, synopsis, AND first 15 pages of your manuscript are as professional as possible and ready to go! I will discuss format, font, word choice, and writerly topics such as character, plot, pacing, tension, etc. You only get ONE opportunity to make your submission shine, so why not hire a Rising Star?

Picture Book Evaluation
As a traditionally published picture book author, I know how difficult it can be to see your picture book in print. For authors and author-illustrators who write their own picture books, this package is for you! Maybe you’re just in need of a second pair of eyes (or a tenth pair of eyes!); maybe you just want to make sure your picture book query letter is polished to perfection. With this package, I will evaluate your picture book manuscript, query materials, and give an editorial letter that will highlight the strengths and suggestions for potential revision.
$250 per picture book manuscript; or $600 for three picture book manuscripts submitted together—A 20% discount
Full Editorial Evaluation
I’ve worked at an independent publishing house and other publishing houses. With over ten years’ experience, I have a keen eye for what editors and publishers are looking for. I will review your full manuscript and provide a two-page editorial letter when you book this service. This letter will focus on items such as character, pacing, plot, setting, narration, and I will answer any other questions you may have. I’m open to ALL genres, novels, and stories of ALL ages.
$0.05 per word, or $50 per 10,000 words
Full Manuscript Line and Copy Edit
I will read your manuscript and suggest line-by-line edits, comments, and ideas on how to make your manuscript stronger for submission. As a previous copy editor, I know the importance of language consistency, character consistency, and word choice when it comes to story. Once we discuss these ways on how to enhance your story, I’ll ensure that you’re more than happy with your polished manuscript.

Full Manuscript Editorial Evaluation and Line Edit
Selecting this package allows me to fully evaluate your manuscript with a two-page editorial letter, PLUS a line edit! When you book this package with me, I will point out key problems within your manuscript, hone in on how to make the story more succinct, and edit suggested changes in both comments and track changes. In addition, I will offer a FREE additional round and edit through your project a SECOND time, after we’ve gone through the first initial edits together!

As a marginalized author of color, I’m also available for cultural accuracy and sensitivity reading/editing. With my experience as a cultural accuracy reader and editor at Kevin Anderson & Associates, I know how important it is for a manuscript to be as fully authentic as possible. With my unique identities and intersectionalities, I will make sure that your manuscript receives the sensitivity read and cultural accuracy it deserves! I will provide a cultural accuracy editorial letter and point out any sensitive subjects within the manuscript comments.
